Happy New Year fellow Duranies! Apologies that this article is a few days late. 2025 was another busy(ish) year in Duran-land, and here are ten standout (ish) moments that we shared. See you all around in 2026!
Various vinyl re-releases

For those itching to spend, 2025 proved to be another productive year.
In May, Greatest was released as an LP for the first time. And it is in white vinyl (even if that is a bit 2021). How do you skip the butchered Save A Prayer on your record player?

The strange live album Ultra Chrome Latex and Steel got another outing. It first appeared against the official DD release Live at Budokan on Record Store Day 2018. LP. Then it was re-released on coloured vinyl, and in November it turned up as a single ‘black liquid filled' LP’ , complete with Be My Icon still intact in a running order of 8 songs. It’s also got Secret Oktober.
February 2025 saw the 40th anniversary of Some Like It Hot. A big moment in Duraning history. Time passed. In November there came the announcement of a significant 4CD / vinyl re-release of the Power Station album and a live performance. Pre-orders opened in time for sending out around the world on the .... 41st anniversary.
Reportage ongoing saga (Katy Kafe in April (Roger), May (Simon), plus various teases / fob offs through out the year)
2026 sees the 20th anniversary of Reportage not being released. 2025 saw more ‘best intentions’ statements from the band (Simon: “We started working on it. It is brilliant”) and Roger who said this in April:
“We are excited about it. We listened to it again a couple of weeks ago. Andy doesn’t have to redo anything*… It will be like a bonus release.”
*He then went on to list the things that DO need to have to have things redone, including the drums. And the synths. And the lyrics…. The wait goes on...
Record Store Day Danse Macabre bonus LP (April)

The Halloween gift that keeps on giving. Especially at Easter when this funky bonus disc of revolving characters was released.
Nile Rogers ongoing saga (June)
He’s the fourth (1986), sixth (2004), and now fifth (2015-25) member of Duran Duran! He just won’t go away!
“Working with our good friend Nile at Abbey Road Studios this weekend. Stay tuned…” So said DDHQ in June. We are still staying tuned.
Blond Ambition

Finally, some proper news... John went blond in October.
A rolling European tour! (June, July, October)
If it’s summer it must Duran at a festival. Just as we Duranies now have a special place for October in our hearts, so too does June bring travel plans. Since 2022, Duran Duran have pitched up at various out-of-the-way places as big tents go up. This year they ended up in places as exotic as Finland, Marbella, Cork and Chelmsford.
Shadows On Your Side 2025 is released! (October)

To a mixed reception this revamp hit our phones in early October. No new Andy, just some (interesting?) messing around with a Fab Five hidden treasure. Has probably not being played by you since November
Massacre of the set list (June / July)
John (in June about the upcoming tour dates): “Someone might be coming to see Duran Duran for the very first time, and in many ways, those are the people we are laser targeting.”
Hmm, thanks for that. But deep down we all know he’s right.
Simon (in May): “We don’t want to just play the old stuff. It’s always exciting when we’re putting together the repertoire for the next tour to see ‘oh, should we try doing that number? We haven’t done that for 15 years. Is it worth bringing that one up?’ It’s really exciting, that part of the job.”
And what happened next? Nite Runner turned up! In your laser-targeted face new people!
AND IT WAS ACTUALLY PLAYED MORE TIMES THAN WHITE LINES THIS YEAR!
Your highlight.
We've all got on. Friendships rekindled, a song heard for the first / latest time, hard times made easier by your connections to the Duraning world. To be cherished.
Manchester Halloween concert (October 31st)
The great travelling Halloween circus hit the UK for the first time and it was an absolute wonder. This crowned the little-known fact that this was the first time since 1979-83 that Duran Duran had played live in the UK every year for five straight (2021-25). If they play a UK show in 2026 this will be a record-breaking six successive years. See you there!

Give me some democrat love!
